The short answer
rrefcalculator.io does not set any cookies, and no third party sets cookies through our pages. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The only thing we save in your browser is your answer to the cookie banner, and that is kept in local storage rather than in a cookie.
What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Local storage is a similar browser feature that keeps data on your device without sending it to the website with each request. Both can be used for essential features, for remembering preferences, or for tracking. Consent rules usually apply to both.
Categories and what we use
| Category | Purpose | Used here |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Needed for the site to work or to remember a choice you made. | One local-storage entry: your cookie choice (below). No cookies. |
| Functional | Remembers optional settings between visits. | Not used |
| Analytics | Counts visits and measures how pages are used. | Not used |
| Advertising | Shows or personalizes ads and tracks their performance. | Not used |
The one item we store
| Name | Type | Contents | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
rrefcalculator-consent | Local storage (first party) | Your choice for each optional category and the date you made it. | Until you clear it. We ask again after 12 months or if the categories change. |
This entry never leaves your browser. The calculators do not store your matrices in cookies or local storage.
Consent before anything optional
The banner offers Accept all, Reject all and Manage preferences, and rejecting is as easy as accepting. Because we currently use no optional tools, your choice does not change what the site does today. If we add an optional service in the future, it will only load after you allow its category, we will update this page, and we will ask for your consent again.
How to change or withdraw your consent
- Use the Cookie settings button in the footer of every page, or the button at the top of this page, to change any category at any time.
- Choose Reject all in the settings to withdraw consent for every optional category.
- You can also delete the stored choice through your browser's settings for site data. The banner will then appear again.
Cookies on other websites
Our guides link to external sources such as Texas Instruments and the University of Texas at Austin. Those websites may set their own cookies under their own policies once you visit them.
