1. Enter your matrix.
Press 2nd, then x⁻¹ to open the MATRIX menu. Press → twice to reach EDIT, then press ENTER to edit matrix [A]. Type the number of rows and press ENTER, type the number of columns and press ENTER, then type each value followed by ENTER.
2. Open the RREF command.
Leave the editor with 2nd, then MODE (QUIT). Press 2nd, then x⁻¹ again and press → once to reach MATH. Press ALPHA, then APPS to paste rref( on the home screen.
3. Choose the stored matrix.
Press 2nd, x⁻¹, then 1 to insert [A] from the NAMES list. Close the parenthesis with ) and press ENTER. The expression is rref([A]), and the reduced matrix appears below it.

Where is rref on a TI-84 calculator?
On TI-83 Plus and TI-84 Plus models, rref( is in the MATH list of the MATRIX menu, which opens with 2nd and x⁻¹. Instead of scrolling down the MATH list, press ALPHA then APPS to paste it directly.
